My Green Network: Final project ceremony held

The final ceremony of the "My Green Network" project, which is being implemented by the Directorate for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Riyasat of the Islamic Community (IC) in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the support of the European Union Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina, was held on August 18 in the Gazi Husrev-beg Library in Sarajevo.

The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Grand Mufti of the Islamic Community Enes-ef. Ljevaković, Stefano Ellero, Head of Cooperation at the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as other representatives of the Riyasat of the Islamic Community.

"We are proud of the fact that students of Bosnian-Herzegovinian madrasas are participating in this project. We are witnessing a crisis in the preservation of the environment, in the protection of nature and natural beauties. Of course, the projects created by our students are small steps, but they are steps in the right direction. We believe that our students who lead these projects will also be the leaders of new ideas and new initiatives in the field of nature conservation. The Islamic Community promotes and strongly stands behind this idea, and we hope that this is the first step in deepening cooperation and partnership on this and similar projects," stated Deputy Grand Mufti Ljevaković.

Stefano Ellero assessed this project as very significant, emphasizing that it was *"an exceptional pleasure to cooperate with the Islamic Community"*.

"An additional pleasure for us was that the Islamic Community enabled us to cooperate with young people, and that is an additionally relevant issue for the European Union. Through the project, we managed to transfer certain knowledge to them, develop skills, and influence awareness. I believe that they are exactly the champions," stated Ellero.

The "My Green Network" project brought together madrasa students in our country into a unique, open platform, within which they sought to act in their local communities.

Melika Arifhodžić, project manager, emphasized that while we face the challenges of climate change and environmental degradation, it is immensely encouraging to see young people taking the initiative in local communities.

"Their small-scale projects, aimed towards the Green Agenda, prove that everyone can contribute to positive change. They are an inspiration to all of us to get involved in the protection of nature and the resources that allow us to live," she said.

Young people attended lectures, workshops, and visited notable locations within study visits. Ultimately, they designed and implemented eight small-scale socially beneficial projects, funded by the European Union. In this way, through their activism, they responded to the needs of society and the times in which they live.

The projects were presented today, and they are aimed at promoting and adopting the principles of the Green Agenda, which promotes decarbonization policy, clean energy, and sustainable mobility, which will enable fresh air, clean water, healthy soil and biodiversity, and healthy and affordable food, all for the purpose of improving the well-being and health of citizens and future generations.

"The project was very interesting and intensive. The goal of all our projects was to raise awareness among young people about the importance of environmental conservation," stated Ahmed Avdibašić, a student at the Behram-beg Madrasa in Tuzla.

At the end of the ceremony, certificates were awarded to the project participants.
